fyyd.de is an independent podcast search engine, not a hosting platform and not a player app. It was built and is still run by Christian Bednarek as a genuinely independent project out of Germany, and it has been indexing podcast feeds for over a decade.
Two things make it different from the big directories. First, it is search-first: fyyd is designed around finding podcasts and individual episodes by query, not around a curated home page controlled by an editorial team. Second, it is open. Anyone can submit a feed through the "Feed anmelden" form, anyone can build user-curated lists, and there is a public API plus iframe and JavaScript embed codes for any show or episode.
It indexes German-language podcasts heavily, but it is not German-only. English-language shows are indexed and searchable there too, which is exactly why it is worth a slot in your distribution list if you have — or want — listeners in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The Feed Problems We Find Most Often
We have audited enough feeds to know where they break. These are the recurring offenders:
Artwork that fails silently. Cover art below the minimum resolution, saved as a progressive JPEG, hosted behind a redirect, or served from a URL that changes on every deploy. The show gets indexed with a broken thumbnail and looks abandoned in search results.
Episode titles that carry no information. "Episode 47" tells a search engine nothing. It tells a listener nothing either. Every episode title should be able to stand alone in a search result page.
Descriptions copied across every episode. Identical show-level boilerplate pasted into all episodes is one of the fastest ways to make a back catalogue invisible in a search-driven index.
Migration damage. A move between hosts without 301 redirects on the old feed leaves duplicate listings in directories, split episode histories, and claims attached to the wrong feed. This is the single most expensive mistake to fix later.
Missing owner email. Almost every directory ownership process — fyyd included — depends on the email in your feed. If it is missing, wrong, or points to an inbox nobody monitors, you cannot claim your own show.
