Overcast Podcast Submission Services
Overcast is the podcast app that iOS power listeners actually keep on their home screen. It has been running since 2014, it is still built and maintained by one developer, Marco Arment, and it still refuses to sit between you and your audience. There are no contracts, no rights handovers, and no interference with your download stats. Your feed stays yours.
That independence is also why Overcast confuses so many podcasters. There is no dashboard to log into. There is no "submit your show" button on a creator portal. Search for a submission guide and you will find a dozen listicles telling you to fill in a form that, for most shows, will not do anything at all.
Our Overcast podcast submission service exists to fix that gap. We handle the technical route that genuinely puts your show in Overcast's search and category listings, verify the listing is live, and then work on the one thing that actually moves a show up Overcast's category rankings.
How Overcast Actually Lists Podcasts in 2026
Overcast does not maintain its own submission queue. It uses the Apple Podcasts directory as its source and as its content filter. Because it is a one-person company that cannot manually review every show on earth for spam, adult content or policy breaches, it leans on Apple's human-reviewed directory to decide what belongs in search and recommendations.
The practical consequences are simple and almost nobody explains them properly:
If your show is approved in Apple Podcasts, it usually appears in Overcast search within one to two days. No separate submission needed.
If your show is on Apple but still missing from Overcast, there is a manual add page — but the listing will not surface in search until Overcast can verify the show's presence in Apple Podcasts.
If your show is not in Apple Podcasts at all, no amount of form-filling will list you. Listeners can still subscribe by pasting your feed URL, but you will be invisible in search and recommendations.
So the real job is not "submitting to Overcast". The real job is making sure your feed is clean, your Apple listing is approved and correctly identified, and Overcast's crawlers can reach you. That is what we do.
The Second Gate Nobody Checks: Crawler Access
Overcast uses server-side crawling. Instead of thousands of listener devices hammering your feed, Overcast fetches it centrally from six crawler hosts — crawl1 through crawl6.overcast.fm — and pushes new episodes out to subscribers from there.
If your host, firewall, WAF or bot-protection rules block those crawlers, your episodes arrive late or never. We have seen shows where the Apple listing was perfect, the feed validated cleanly, and Overcast subscribers were still weeks behind — because a security rule silently rejected the crawler.
We check crawler reachability directly, confirm your caching headers are being honoured, and get the block removed at the host or CDN level. It is a fifteen-minute fix that most podcasters never even know to look for.
The Only Lever That Moves You Up Overcast
Here is where Overcast is genuinely different from every other directory.
Overcast has no editorial team. There are no curated playlists to pitch, no featured slots to negotiate, no charts to game. The category screens inside the app show the top-recommended shows recently — driven entirely by listeners tapping the star "recommend" button on episodes.
That means the ranking work for Overcast is not technical SEO. It is listener activation. And it is a lever most agencies do not even mention, because it takes actual campaign work rather than a form submission.
We build that into the engagement: a call-to-action script written for your show's tone, placed at the point in the episode where listeners are most likely to act, bundled with your existing ratings-and-reviews ask so you are not making three separate requests. We give you the exact wording, the placement timestamp, and a recommended cadence so it does not become nagging.
Done properly across a run of episodes, this is what pushes a show onto the category screens that new Overcast listeners actually browse.
The Measurement Advantage Overcast Gives You
Overcast is privacy-first and publishes no analytics dashboard. But it does something no other major directory does: it reports your subscriber count directly in the HTTP User-Agent string when its servers crawl your feed.
Your host logs will show something in the shape of a Podcast Sync request carrying a live subscriber number and feed ID. Episode downloads carry their own identifiers for the iOS app and the Apple Watch app separately.
That is a real, trackable KPI. We set up the log parsing or host-side filtering so you can see your Overcast subscriber count move month over month, and separate Overcast downloads from the rest of your traffic. Instead of "we submitted it, hope it works", you get a number that goes up.
What Our Overcast Podcast Submission Service Includes
1. Full RSS feed audit. Title, description, artwork dimensions and format, owner email, categories, explicit flag, episode GUIDs, enclosure URLs, durations, publish dates and encoding. We produce a plain-English fault list before anyone touches a submission form.
2. Apple Podcasts approval or repair. Because Apple is the gate, this is where the work sits. New shows get submitted through Podcasts Connect and taken through review. Existing shows that were rejected, deleted, duplicated or orphaned get diagnosed and fixed.
3. Manual Overcast add and listing verification. Where a show is live on Apple but absent from Overcast, we submit it manually and then verify the listing genuinely appears in in-app search and on the web — not just that a form said "thanks".
4. Crawler and delivery checks. Confirming crawl1–crawl6 access, caching headers, redirect chains and response times so new episodes propagate in minutes rather than hours.
5. Ping API integration. Overcast offers a ping endpoint that triggers an immediate feed crawl instead of waiting for the normal cycle. Where your host or CMS supports it, we wire it into your publishing workflow with correctly scoped URL prefixes — critical for shows with time-sensitive episodes, and for premium feeds with many per-member URLs.
6. Chapter markers. Overcast renders MP3 and M4A chapters with titles, images and clickable link URLs — one of the richest chapter displays in any app. We set up chaptering in your workflow, including Overcast's own free Forecast encoder where it fits, so each episode arrives with navigable sections and clickable show-note links.
7. Transcript and episode metadata work. Overcast added in-app transcripts in its 2026.4 release, letting listeners navigate an episode by scrolling and tapping the text. We make sure transcripts are correctly attached, and we publish clean canonical episode pages on your own site with PodcastEpisode schema so the same content is discoverable in Google and in AI answer engines.
8. Link and button assets. Overcast show pages follow a fixed URL pattern built from your Apple ID, and Overcast permits use of its icon and logo for "Subscribe on Overcast" buttons. We supply the correct live URL, the button asset, and the iOS URL scheme that opens a subscribe prompt directly — the only reliable way to onboard listeners to a paid private feed.
Private, Premium and Password-Protected Feeds
If you run a members-only show, Overcast handles you differently, and you need to know how before you launch.
Feeds carrying HTTP Basic Auth credentials, and feeds using the itunes:block element, are treated as private. They are excluded from search and recommendations, they lose the share and recommend buttons, and their web pages are only visible to logged-in users who entered the exact URL themselves.
That is correct behaviour — you do not want a paid feed in public search — but it means your growth path for a premium show is completely different from a public one. We architect it properly: a public marketing feed that carries the free episodes and the discovery weight, a private feed for members, the subscribe URL scheme wired into your checkout flow, and ping requests scoped to the premium prefix so every member's feed updates the moment you publish. Note that Basic Auth feeds are excluded from ping support, so the delivery design has to account for that from the start.
Is Overcast Right for Your Show? An Honest Fit Assessment
We would rather scope this correctly than sell you something that will not pay back.
Overcast is a strong fit if: your audience skews toward iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, CarPlay, Mac or Vision Pro users; your show sits in technology, business, design, finance, news, science or long-form interview categories; your listeners are the kind of people who care about audio quality, silence trimming and volume normalisation; and your core markets are the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia or Singapore, where Apple device share and Overcast usage are concentrated.
Overcast is a weaker fit if: your audience is overwhelmingly Android. Overcast is an Apple-platform app and has no Android release. For shows aimed primarily at listeners in India, or at any Android-majority market, Overcast should be one line item in a wider distribution plan — not the plan itself. We will tell you that up front and point the budget at platforms that will actually reach those listeners.
Across global listening, Overcast holds a small single-digit share. What it has instead is quality of audience: a loyal, high-intent, well-monetised listener base that other apps do not match. Judge it on the value of the listener, not the size of the slice.
Being Straight With You About Cost
The Overcast listing itself is free. Apple Podcasts submission is free. The manual add page is free. Nobody at Overcast charges you for inclusion, and any provider implying otherwise is selling you a story.
What you are paying us for is the work around it: the feed audit and repair, getting through Apple review without a rejection loop, the crawler and delivery diagnostics, chapter and transcript production, ping integration, the subscriber-count reporting setup, the recommend-button campaign, and the wider directory syndication that runs alongside it.
Every one of those is a task with hours attached. The listing is the outcome, not the product.
Our Process
Step 1 — Free feed audit. Send us your RSS URL. Within two working days you get a written report covering feed health, Apple status, Overcast listing status, crawler reachability and the specific faults blocking you. No obligation, and the report is yours whether you engage us or not.
Step 2 — Scope and quote. Based on what the audit finds, we scope the work and quote a fixed fee. A healthy feed that just needs listing and verification costs a fraction of a broken feed needing a rebuild and an Apple resubmission.
Step 3 — Remediation and submission. Feed fixes, artwork correction, metadata rewrite, Apple submission or repair, manual Overcast add, crawler unblocking.
Step 4 — Verification. We do not report completion until we can produce your live Overcast show URL and confirm the listing appears in in-app search. You get screenshots and the URL.
Step 5 — Growth and reporting. Recommend-campaign scripts, chapter and transcript workflow, subscriber-count tracking, and monthly reporting against the numbers your own logs give you.
Why Work With SEOServiceinIndia
We have been delivering podcast distribution and audio SEO work for clients in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Singapore and India, across independent shows, agency-managed brand podcasts and enterprise content teams.
Experience. We have taken feeds through Apple Podcasts review, recovered shows that were rejected or removed, migrated hosts without losing subscribers, and rebuilt legacy feeds that had been broken for years. Overcast's rules are documented publicly — the value we add is knowing what breaks in practice.
Expertise. Our team works across RSS specification and Podcasting 2.0 namespaces, technical SEO, schema markup, server log analysis and CDN configuration. Podcast distribution sits at the intersection of all of those, which is exactly why so many submissions fail.
Authoritativeness. Everything on this page is drawn from Overcast's own published podcaster documentation and current platform behaviour, not from recycled listicles. Where a platform rule has changed, we say so.
Trust. We do not promise rankings we cannot control, we tell you when a platform is a poor fit for your audience, and we hand over a live verified URL as proof of delivery. Your feed, your host, your stats — all of it stays under your control throughout.
Overcast Submission Packages
Starter — Feed audit, fault remediation, Apple Podcasts submission or repair, manual Overcast add, listing verification with live URL, crawler access check. Right for a single show being listed for the first time.
Growth — Everything in Starter, plus chapter marker setup, transcript attachment and canonical episode pages with schema, ping API integration, recommend-campaign scripting, Overcast subscriber tracking, and syndication to the wider directory set including the platforms that require a manual claim.
Enterprise — Everything in Growth, applied across a show network or multiple feeds, plus premium and private feed architecture, host migration with 301 redirects and preserved GUIDs, publishing-workflow automation, and consolidated monthly reporting across all shows and platforms.
Pricing is quoted after the free feed audit, because quoting before we have seen the feed would be guesswork. A clean feed and a broken feed are not the same job.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an official Overcast podcast submission form?
There is a manual add page, but it is a fallback rather than the main route. Overcast lists shows automatically from the Apple Podcasts directory, and a manually added show will not appear in search until Overcast can verify it is in Apple Podcasts.
How long does it take for a podcast to appear in Overcast?
Once a show is approved in Apple Podcasts, it typically shows up in Overcast search within one to two days. If the Apple listing is delayed or rejected, the Overcast listing is delayed with it.
My podcast is on Apple Podcasts but not in Overcast. Why?
The usual causes are an unverified or duplicated Apple record, a feed fault that breaks parsing, or a firewall or bot rule blocking Overcast's crawler hosts. Our audit identifies which of the three is affecting you.
Does Overcast charge to list my podcast?
No. Inclusion in Overcast is free, as is Apple Podcasts submission. Our fee covers the audit, repair, submission, verification and growth work around the listing.
Can I pay to be featured in Overcast?
Not editorially — Overcast does not curate or hand-pick shows. It does sell display ad placements on the Now Playing screen and in the top slot of each directory category, which is a separate paid channel we can advise on.
How do podcasts rank in Overcast's category lists?
By listener recommendations. Overcast lets users star episodes, and category screens show the most-recommended shows recently. Encouraging your listeners to recommend the show is the only genuine ranking lever.
Is Overcast available on Android?
No. Overcast runs on Apple platforms including iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, CarPlay, Mac and Vision Pro, plus a web player. If your audience is mostly Android, Overcast should be one part of a broader distribution plan.
Can I list a private or paid subscriber-only feed?
Yes, but it behaves differently. Feeds using authentication or the block element are kept out of search and recommendations by design. We set up a separate public marketing feed alongside the private one and wire the direct subscribe link into your member signup.
